Projects
When it comes to general aviation, we’re the experts. We’ve worked with numerous corporate flight departments, FBOs, OEMs, high-net-worth individuals, airport authorities, and maintenance facilities on a long list of successful projects over the years. We are uniquely positioned to assist you with the planning, designing, and constructing of your aviation facility. UDA Architects would be proud to help protect your valuable aircraft in a beautiful and thoughtfully designed facility with features that maximize the efficiency of your operations.
The Ross Aviation general aviation facility is currently being constructed at Hanscom Airfield (BED) to complement the existing nearby Atlantic Aviation FBO. The project will deliver a first-class LEED Gold Level certification facility consisting of three clear-span corporate hangar spaces supported by office space and a separate ground service equipment garage. This facility will be capable of storing, servicing, and maintaining all aircraft types up to and including G650 and Global 7000 airframes. The premises has direct landside and airside access and will improve the physical environment by incorporating attractive landscaping and other development techniques that also provide sound and visual buffer solutions for the surrounding community.
UDA Architects completed this project under a fast-track delivery method; commencing 2 months after and opening 6 months before a slightly larger facility concurrently built on the same taxiway by another private aviation operation. The new facility was a 34,000 square-foot corporate aviation facility for (1) Global Express, (1) Challenger 604, and (1) Sikorsky corporate helo. Major facility features include executive office suites, passive and active security systems, high-expansion foam fire suppression system, and radiant interior/exterior slab heating.
In 2019, JetLinx added a location to their national fleet at Hanscom Airforce Base outside of Boston. They hired UDA for our aviation design expertise and familiarity with Massport’s Tenant Alteration Application (TAA) process to ease the design and construction process.
Kevin Uniacke was the architect for the new 44,000 gross square foot corporate aviation facility for a 4 aircraft / 22 pilot / 18 employee flight department. This project required full A/E team design services, including site selection, site design, facility programming, building design, interior design, and construction administration. Major building systems include the effective use of natural lighting in hangar areas without the use of skylights, a high-expansion foam fire suppression system, and 2 1/2 acres of radiant interior/exterior slab. The client required custom masonry, millwork, and interior design to achieve the look required by the client.
UDA Architects was selected as the designer for the Rectrix Aviation Services corporate office relocation into the passenger terminal at Hanscom Airfield in Bedford MA. Scheduling, Operations, and Management staff from their existing East Coast FBO facilities were brought together to streamline operations for the growing company. The design and interior fit-out is class A+ in keeping with the design of Rectrix’s other facilities, and many of the colors/materials were selected with the goal of corporate brand consistency.
Talon Air, a private jet charter and management company, sought to develop five parcels at New York’s busy Republic Airport. Recognizing the opportunity to increase the brand’s convenience for its clients, UDA assisted in the design for each parcel including several hangars and a Fixed-Base Operator (FBO). This project is ongoing.
